Celebrating EOLONM Volunteers

Phyllis Turner, EOLONM Materials Coordinator!

Phyllis brings a warm spirit and open heart to her work with EOLONM!

By Barak Wolff

Since Phyllis joined EOLONM as a Public Outreach and Education (POE) volunteer several years ago, she has become a valued  leader and advocate. Phyllis is officially recognized as EOLONM’s “Materials Coordinator” and takes responsibility for maintaining supplies and printed materials to support presentations and tabling events statewide. She has dedicated part of her home to storing these materials as well as our large copier machine. In addition to maintaining inventory, Phyllis mails out requested supplies and materials to both regional coordinators, to individual volunteers and sometimes to requesting indivudals. This is a key responsibility that requires a high level of organization, planning, and customer service. It is a huge responsibility that allows other EOLONM staff and volunteers to do their work effectively and efficiently.

In addition to accomplishing this critical job of materials coordinator, Phyllis has become a frequent and highly capable volunteer who staffs EOLONM outreach tables at every opportunity in the Santa Fe area. But most importantly Phyllis is committed to service with a smile. She is warm and welcoming whether getting materials to other volunteers, even in a crisis, or talking with individuals and families about the importance of advance care planning and end-of-life options. As a Master of Social Work who served adult protective services for the New Mexico Aging and Long Term Services Department for many years, Phyllis brings a warm spirit and open heart to her work with EOLONM!
