Celebrating EOLONM Volunteers
Donna Agnew
Public Outreach and Education (POE) Team Co-Chair
By Christina Gardiner
Donna began her career, that eventually led her to End of Life Options New Mexico (EOLONM), with her service in the Army, after earning a degree in nursing on a full scholarship. She served at the end of the Vietnam war and was trained in building MASH units, field hospitals and in care specific to biological warfare. Most of her work was in critical care of soldiers coming home from the war.
After her military service, she and her husband moved to
Alamogordo and eventually Albuquerque where she worked in obstetrics. In 1980 she opened a hospice agency, serving Southern New Mexico. At the time hospice was not main stream and convincing providers of the importance of this element of care at end of life was challenging and deeply rewarding. She went on to receive a Master’s degree in critical care from UNM which led to administrative and IT positions at Presbyterian, where she eventually became the Vice President of Process Improvement.

After retirement Donna was introduced to EOLONM by Revathi A-Davidson, who was her colleague at Presbyterian. Donna started with Client Support Team work before transitioning to the POE group where she now serves as co-chair with Patsy Nelson.
Donna brings her deep commitment, excellence and her immense experience to everything she does for EOLONM. We are so grateful for her contribution.
