May 18 – New Mexico Clinicians Conference on Medical Aid in Dying

May 18th from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Conference Description:

The Elizabeth Whitefield End of Life Options Act legalized Medical Aid in Dying (MAID) in New Mexico in 2021. This program allows for terminally ill patients to ask for assistance from a clinician to prescribe medications for self-administration with the explicit intention of ending life.

The complexity of this request requires knowledge of the expectations and requirements of the End of Life Options Act, excellent communication skills for patients and their families to navigate this request, and the application of standards of care and best practices when approaching this request.

This conference is designed to address these topics and to provide an opportunity for clinicians to learn collaboratively together.
