Listen to an NPR interview which was recorded on Friday, February 1 about medical aid in dying and the Elizabeth Whitefield End of Life Options Act (HB 90) that is currently being addressed in Committees of the New Mexico legislature.
Here & Now‘s Peter O’Dowd conducted an interview with Robert Schwartz, one of the founders of the New Mexico End of Life Options Coalition team. The seven-minute interview addresses several of the pros and cons associated with medical aid in dying and explains the current status the bill.
According to Schwartz,
“the debate is not between whether to take an act which will result in the death of a patient or not to do that. The debate is whether individuals should make that decision for themselves.”
