“My journey in the end-of-life movement began in 2012, standing alongside a small but determined group of volunteers who believed New Mexicans deserved greater autonomy and compassion at the end of life.
What started as a grassroots coalition, powered entirely by hope, persistence, and countless hours of volunteer leadership, has since grown into the nonprofit we now know as End of Life Options New Mexico (EOLONM). I’ve had the privilege of witnessing that evolution up close, from early community meetings to statewide advocacy efforts, and later through my work with a national organization. Today, I am honored to serve as the Board Chair of EOLONM.

I give to EOLONM because I know what is possible when committed people rally around issues that are important to them. Our volunteers and staff reach every corner of New Mexico, urban, rural, and everything in between, ensuring that individuals and families understand their end-of-life care options, can access the care they need, and feel supported throughout the journey. This work doesn’t happen from a distance; it is built through relationships. It is built through neighbors showing up for neighbors, through storytellers, clinicians, educators, and caregivers who meet people where they are with compassion and clarity.
Every day, I am in awe of the hundreds of volunteers and supporters, past and present, who give their time, energy, and hearts to this mission. The relationships we’ve built over the years have become lifelong ones, shaping me both personally and professionally. These volunteers are the backbone of our work and the reason so many New Mexicans can make informed decisions at the end of life. Their dedication and unwavering belief in this mission inspire me to give and to keep giving.
Together, we can ensure that every New Mexican has the knowledge, support, and options they need when it matters most.”
